Novel Spectrophotometric method development and validation for the estimation of Tazarotene and hydroquinone in liposomal gel formulation

Abstract


The present study describes simple, accurate, precise and cost effective UV Spectrophotometric method for the simultaneous estimation of Tazarotene and Hydroquinone in bulk and gel formulation. The solvent used was Phosphate buffer and the absorption maxima for Tazarotene and Hydroquinone were found to be 358nm and 288nm respectively. A linear response was observed in the range of 5-25μg/mL and 5-25μg/mL with a correlation coefficient of 0.999 for Tazarotene and Hydroquinone respectively. The method was then validated for different parameters like accuracy, precision, sensitivity and linearity as per ICH Q2 (International Conference on Harmonization) guidelines. This method can be used for the simultaneous estimation of Tazarotene and Hydroquinone in quality control of formulation without interference of excepients.
